Adventure Anthology
How do I get the word out about an independent comic book that promotes the works of comic book creators?
We’ve just released Raytoons Cartoon Avenue #1 (www.raytoonscartoons.com), an open Indy anthology comic book magazine. Our goal is to have a magazine that allows creators the opportunity to have their art and writings printed in a comic book form as a way of promoting their creations. The stories contained in Raytoons Cartoon Avenue would be *genre free* allowing for a full range of story types from comedy to adventure, from fantasy to sci-fi, from historical to futuristic. You wouldn’t be stuck with superhero stories (like spiderman, fantastic four, or superman). All comics and stories will be developed for general audiences, meaning both children and adults will be able to read and enjoy them.
What are all the different ways to get the word out there, so that readers and cartoonists/artists/writers everywhere are aware of its existance?

You might try and contact all the comic book shops in your area and see if they will carry it. I know my comic book shop happily displays books by local creators!
For a wider draw, start a Yahoo! Group, or MySpace page for your new magaizne. Then you could get in touch with people wanting to both buy and possibly submit stories to you book!
You might also see about contacting some of the more popular podcast broadcaters out there, and see if they might allow you a spot on their show, or send them a few free issues and see if they will say some nice things about the book during their podcast or post something about it on their websites.
